Unique Identification Authority Of India has deactivated 81 lakh Aadhaar numbers in 2017-18 till date.As you know the Indian Govt has issued 111 crore Aadhaar cards to the residents of India so far.
Aadhaar is must for all Indians to avail various facilities that the Govt of India offers to its citizens.Further it is compulsory for all citizens to link their Aadhaar with PAN,Mobile SIM,Bank account number,LPG connection .
Soon all have to link their Aadhaar with voter ID cards,stock market etc.
How to Check If Your Aadhaar Is Active Or Not?
To verify the status of Aadhaar card ,you need to log in to UIDAI Website https://resident.uidai.gov.in/aadhaarverification .Now after opening this link put your Aadhaar number and enter security code and hit verify button.
After hitting verify you will get Aadhaar verification completes! Meaage,If your Aadhaar card is active.
If not active you will get the message Aadhaar does not exists.
Reason for deactivation of Aadhaar :
The main reason is,if you have not linked your Aadhaar card with PAN,bank account number then your Aadhaar card is no more.Further people availed pension schemes without authenticating their aadhaar.
In order to curb the menace of black money,tax evasion,multiple PAN numbers,Govt of India has made it mandatory to have Aadhaar card linked to Bank,PAN etc.
